Privacy policy

What HuiaHub collects (very little), why, and your choices.

The short version

HuiaHub doesn't need to know who you are. Our own analytics are cookie-free and count page views per day without storing IP addresses or identifiers. Google Analytics runs only if you accept it.

What we collect

  • Aggregate analytics: daily counts of page views and referring websites. No cookies, no IP addresses, no cross-site tracking. Browsers sending Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control are not counted.
  • Search queries: what people search for on HuiaHub, counted per day and not linked to anyone. It shows us what is missing.
  • Newsletter: if you subscribe, your email address is stored with our email provider (Brevo) to send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any email.
  • Bookmarks: saved in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device.
  • Security logs: to protect the site we may process IP addresses transiently for rate limiting, stored only as salted hashes.

Analytics

On your first visit a small banner asks whether we may use Google Analytics 4. Nothing from Google loads until you choose "Accept analytics". If you accept, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies and measures which pages are read, how visitors arrive and roughly where they are, with IP anonymisation on and advertising features off. If you decline, nothing from Google loads and your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage. Browsers sending Global Privacy Control are treated as having declined and are not asked. You can change your choice at any time with "Analytics choices" in the footer.

Third parties

Videos use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). On a video's own page the player loads with the page, so YouTube receives that request when you open it; elsewhere, a video loads only when you click play. Links to external sites are governed by those sites' policies.

Your rights

You can ask us to access or delete any personal data we hold about you (for example, a newsletter subscription). Contact us to do that.
