What Slack GIF creator does

Slack GIF creator gives the agent Slack's size guidance, a small Python toolkit and a set of animation recipes for requests such as a GIF of something happening, made for Slack. The SKILL.md recommends 128x128 for emoji GIFs and 480x480 for message GIFs, 10 to 30 FPS, 48 to 128 colors, and under 3 seconds for emoji.

The agent writes the animation code itself. It creates a GIFBuilder, draws each frame with Pillow's ImageDraw shapes (or loads an image the user uploaded), adds the frames and saves the file. Helpers in core/frame_composer.py draw blank frames, gradients, circles, stars and text, and core/easing.py supplies motion curves such as bounce_out, elastic_out and back_out. The file explains shake, pulse, bounce, spin, fade, slide, zoom and particle effects in terms of those tools.

On save, the builder can reduce colors, drop near-duplicate frames and, in emoji mode, resize to 128x128 with a 48-color palette. core/validators.py then checks the dimensions against Slack's emoji or message rules and reports file size, frame count and frame rate. The output is a looping GIF written to the path the agent chooses.

Install

Read the security check below before you run it. The repository's own instructions win if they differ.

Security check

What the skill's files do, from reading them. A flag that nobody has checked yet says "Not checked", never "No".

Runs scripts
Yes
Uses the network
No
Installs hooks
No
Asks for secrets
No

The scan flags runnable scripts: four Python files under core/ (easing.py, frame_composer.py, gif_builder.py and validators.py). The agent imports them in code it writes and runs. They compute easing curves, draw frames in memory with Pillow, write the GIF to the path the caller passes and read a GIF to check its dimensions. The scan found no network calls, hooks or secret variables. Installing requirements.txt pulls Pillow, imageio, imageio-ffmpeg and NumPy from your package index, so read the four scripts and use a virtual environment.

Scan details: Ships 4 script files: core/easing.py, core/frame_composer.py, core/gif_builder.py, core/validators.py. Checked at commit dbd4588f9e10.

Use cases

  • Making a 128x128 animated emoji for a Slack workspace
  • Animating an uploaded image into a short looping message GIF
  • Checking an existing GIF against Slack's emoji dimension rules

Limitations

  • Needs Python with Pillow, imageio, imageio-ffmpeg and NumPy installed
  • Ships no animation templates, emoji font rendering or pre-made graphics
  • The validator passes or fails on dimensions only; large files just get a warning
  • File size optimization is meant only for when the user asks for a smaller file
